In 2021, the number of frozen squid tubes imported by South Korea will decrease by 2.65% year-on-year

From SeafoodMedia on January 20, South Korea imported 23,447 tons of frozen squid tubes last year, accounting for 2.05% of imported seafood, 2.65% less than the same period in 2020.
In December 2021, South Korea imported 2,334 tons of frozen squid tubes, a 5% decrease from 2,449 tons in the same period of the previous year.
Frozen squid tubes are mainly sourced from Peru, China, Chile and Argentina. The frozen squid tubes from Peru were 8,998 tons, accounting for 39%; the frozen squid tubes in China were 7,540 tons, accounting for 32%; the frozen squid tubes in Chile were 6,772 tons, accounting for 29%.
In December, the import value of frozen squid tubes was 3.62 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 3%, and the average import price was 1.55 US dollars per kilogram, an increase of 8% year-on-year.
